Holger Berg, historian

I am a historian with a particular focus on the history of early modern Germany and the Golden Age of Danish literature during the nineteenth century. I am employed at the Hans Christian Andersen Centre, University of Southern Denmark.

Selected publications

I am coeditor of the digital scholarly edition of the manuscripts of Hans Christian Andersen. My coeditor Ane Grum-Schwensen and I recently published the book with 12 contributions that each explore aspects of Andersen's creative work.

My monograph Military Occupation under the Eyes of the Lord. Studies in Erfurt during the Thirty Years War (Göttingen: Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, 2010) was defended as a Ph.D. thesis at the European University Institute in Florence in November 2008.
